Colour CreativityLondon is a city bursting with colour. Vibrant graffiti covered walls, bold fashion choices, coloured sections of architecture, the capital offers a multitude of opportunities for creative street photography. You just need to find a great location and wait for the right person to come along to complete your image.
On my London Colour street photography workshops we explore the city in search of colourful backdrops, interesting compositions and a creatively dressed person to create something special.

One of the joys of street photography in London is the number of locations where architects have incorporated colour into their schemes to add vibrancy and increase the visual impact of their designs. Equally as areas develop and evolve new opportunities for an interesting photograph can emerge by someone covering a wall with striking graffiti, painting a doorway a bright colour or installing a colourful advertising hoarding or piece of public graphic artwork.
I look for ways to bring these locations to life. A colourful background becomes far more compelling when the right person walks into the frame. It might be a passer-by wearing a beautifully coordinated outfit that contrasts with the background or someone sat wearing clothing that matches the colours behind them.
Imagine two people wearing bright yellow coats sat on yellow chairs. The relationship between the two creates a sense of harmony, with the subject becoming part of the wider scene.
Alternatively, a person dressed in red against a green background can produce a bold, eye-catching contrast. These complementary colours can help the subject stand out and give the image an immediate visual impact.
London's wonderfully diverse fashion sense makes street photography so interesting. From the colour of someone's hair to the vibrant patterns, unusual accessories and striking statement pieces that they wear. You never know who might walk around the next corner.

Graffiti provides an exciting visual backdrop for a photograph. London has a great variety of vivid murals, a mixture of realistic and abstract designs made using every colour that you can imagine. The trick is to find an appropriate person that completes your composition.
